The Waratahs started their 2005 Super 12 of well with a convincing win over the Chiefs. Waratahs scored 25 to the Chiefs 7 points. The Waratahs also earn a bonus point for scoring four tries.

At half time the Waratahs lead the Chiefs 17 points to nil. With Mat Rogers scoring one try and being involved in the lead up to the other two.

Rogers had a poor night with the boot, only scoring one shot at goal.

The Chiefs strung some good attacking sequences together but where often let down by poor handling.

Sosene Anesi scored a late try to finally put the Chiefs on the scoreboard on the 77th minute.
