Peter Hewat grabs hat trick as ‘tahs beat Bulls
Waratahs defeated the Bulls 42-12 at Aussie Stadium on Saturday.
Waratahs full back, Peter Hewat, starred for scoring a hat trick of tries and 34 points in total.
Hewat opened the scoring when he slotted a penalty in the ninth minute. He followed up a few minutes later when he crossed for the first try of the match.
The Bulls scored when left winger Akona Ndungane skilfully broke through the Waratahs defence for his side’s first try of the match.
Hewat then scored his second try, like the first setup by a quick pass from Shaun Berne.
The Bulls fought back when Kennedy Tsimba who chipped ahead a misjudged pass by Lote Tuqiri and was able to regather to score a try
Going into half time the Waratahs lead 24-12.
The ‘tahs were able to dominate the second half with Hewat scoring his third try and Adam Freier also crossing the line. Tuqiri blundered when he knocked on in the process of scoring a try.
The win is the fifth consecutive for the Waratahs this season.
