Blues drop Carlos Spencer

April 1st, 2005

Carlos Spencer has been dropped from the Blues starting line up for their game against the Brumbies. The move had been widely rumour since the Blues’ inept performance against the Crusaders.

Former rugby league player, Tasesa Lavea, will wear the No 10 jersey.

The suspensions of lock Ali Williams, halfback David Gibson and midfielder Sam Tuitupou have also forced coach Peter Sloane to make other changes to the team.

Rookie Isa Nacewa will start at fullback, and with All Black No 15 Mils Muliaina moved to centre. Brad Mika comes in at lock to replace Williams. While Steve Devine, who has recovered from his hip flexor problems, will start at halfback.

Jerome Kaino returns following his suspension for the high tackle in the match against the Reds.

Blues: Isa Nacewa, Doug Howlett, Malili Muliaina, Luke McAlister, Joe Rokocoko, Tasesa Lavea, Steve Devine; Xavier Rush (captain), Daniel Braid, Jerome Kaino, Brad Mika, Greg Rawlinson, John Afoa, Keven Mealamu, Tony Woodcock

Reserves: Derren Witcombe, Saimone Taumoepau, Angus Macdonald, Justin Collins, Ben Meyer, Carlos Spencer, Ben Atiga.

Wycliff Palu & Adam Freier to start for Waratahs

The Waratahs have made two changes to their forward pack for their clash against the Crusaders at Aussie Stadium on Saturday.

Hooker Adam Freier returns the starting team. While Wycliff Palu will start at blindside flanker while Stephen Hoiles is dropped to the bench.
