Reds defeat Chiefs

The Reds picked up their first win of the season when they defeated the Chiefs 20-6 at Waikato Stadium on Friday night.

In the first half the Reds scored two tries through Drew Mitchell and Greg Holmes, Julian Huxley converted both tries. Huxley added one penalty goal in the first half and second in the second half.

For the Chiefs, fly half David Hill kicked two penalty goals in the first half. The Chiefs were able to get close to the try line, but mistakes and determined defence by the Reds kept them out.

The Queenslanders were able to control play and stop the Chiefs from crossing their try line.

The win was the first by the Reds in New Zealand since 1999.
