Chiefs smash Sharks

The Chiefs defeated the Sharks 40-5 in a Super 12 game played at Waikato Stadium on Saturday.

Going into the match both teams had only recorded one win this year, so were desparate for the win.

Lock Keith Robinson was set to make his return from injury for the Chiefs, but failed a fitness test before the game and was replaced by Sean Hohneck.

A strong down poor before the game made conditions difficult. The Chiefs were able to adapt to the conditions and scored four tries in the first-half. With Fijian-born winger Sitiveni Sivivatu scoring two tries for his team.

While the Sharks were unable to repeat their performance of last week and look out of sorts for most of the game. They are now at the bottom of the Super 12 table.

Chiefs - Tries: Sitiveni Sivivatu (2), Sione Lauaki, Aleki Lutui, Sosene Anesi, Stephen Donald . Conversions: David Hill (4), Keith Lowen (1).

Sharks - Try: Jaco Gouws
