Rugby World Rankings Round Up January 2007

With the start of the new it is the perfect time to see how Rugby World Rankings currently stand.

There haven’t been any games involving the major nations lately so things have been pretty stable.

Currently the IRB has New Zealand ranked first by a large margin. The All Blacks would have to lose several games to give up the top rank. Behind them is the group of France, Australia, South Africa and Ireland, all within 1.5 points of each other. The coming 6 nations tournament will likely see these rankings change. Argentina Jump Two Spots

In the latest IRB Rankings Argentina have jumped two places from 8th place to 6th place following their surprise win against England at the weekend. This is the highest place that Argentina have held on the table. For England it is the lowest rank they have held.

Springboks retake third place

The Springboks have retaken third place on the IRB’s World Rankings after their victory over Australia last weekend.

The Wallabies had previously held third place after their win over the Springboks in July.

Rugby World Rankings Unchanged

September 5th, 2006

The IRB’s official rugby world ranking remain unchanged after South Africa defeat the All Blacks this past weekend. The win gave South Africa some more points and they now have 86.29 points, but they are still rank 4th just below Australia’s 86.89.

WRR rankings for August 1st

Ross Finlayson has released his rankings for August which includes games played through to August 1st, 2006.

In the top 10, South Africa has dropped 3 places from the previous month, while Australia, Ireland and England each gained one place.

France leapfrog Ireland to get fourth sport

The IRB have released their latest World Rankings.

Following their victory France’s victory over Ireland, France and Ireland swap places. France now hold fourth place and Ireland fifth place.

Also Scotland drop from ninth place to tenth place following their loss.

Ireland improve world ranking

March 2nd, 2005

After their 6 nations victory at the weekend, Ireland have improved there position in the IRB world rankings and now hold the number 4 position. Ireland’s improvement comes at the expensive of France who drop drop to position 5.

While the AQB Sports Rankings show an even larger improvement for Ireland with ranking at number 3.
